Archives on Fire is an anthology of articles, essays, and speeches about archives, memory, and justice authored by Jarrett Martin Drake between 2012 and 2019. These writings, twenty-four overall, span issues of race, labor, and social movements through the unique lens of a Black archivist, educator, and liberatory memory worker. The anthology compiles into one central text the expansive range of published and unpublished works from the start of Drake’s archival career as a graduate student at the University of Michigan School of Information, through his entrance to and exit from Princeton University as its Digital Archivist, inclusive of his experience with A People’s Archive of Police Violence in Cleveland, and concluding with his early years as a doctoral student in anthropology at Harvard University.
