Call for a Managing Editor: Journal of Critical Library and Information Studies
The Journal of Critical Library and Information Studies (JCLIS), published by Litwin Books, seeks a new managing editor. We invite expressions of interest from faculty members in library and information science programs who are committed to critical scholarship and open access publishing.
JCLIS is a peer-reviewed, open access journal that brings critical perspectives from the humanities and social sciences to library and information studies. It provides a forum for research that challenges prevailing assumptions, examines the political and ethical dimensions of information institutions and practices, and opens space for scholarship marginalized within dominant disciplinary conversations.
The managing editor will help sustain this mission by coordinating the journal’s editorial work, supporting communication among authors, reviewers, and editors, and guiding submissions through review and publication in collaboration with the editorial team and publisher.
We seek someone with a strong interest in critical approaches to LIS, sound editorial judgment, and the organizational and interpersonal skills needed to support a scholarly journal. Experience with scholarly publishing—as an editor, reviewer, or author—is welcome.
This is an unpaid academic service position, in keeping with the needs of an open access journal that does not charge author fees. It offers an opportunity to contribute to the field’s scholarly infrastructure and support a forum for critical inquiry across disciplinary boundaries.
To express interest, please send a brief statement describing your interest in the role and relevant experience, along with a CV, to Rory Litwin, at rory@litwinbooks.com. Inquiries about the position are also welcome.
Applications will be reviewed in January.
