I’ve seen the play 4 times and like it more each time. Actor Taylor Hanes is splendid as Arthur Huey, fictional great grand-son of Melvil Dewey. Playwrite Ross Howard’s convincing script has brought him recognition: a prestigious Edward F. Albee Foundation Fellowship. Our library hosted 2 very well received performances for our patrons. Taylor Hanes will perform the play for your library patrons, for at-will contributions. He will be barnstorming the western U.S. throughout the year. I have seen the play twice and laughed even harder the second time. It is a dark comedy that may be hard for some people to laugh at(because it hits too close to home). The play is roughly about a librarian who is losing his job because the library is being converted to a computer lounge. He is also reviewing his life and an even greater loss he suffered.
Amazing the way Taylor takes control of the emotions of the audience. He had us in breathless silence or squirming in our seats, to all out horse laughter. A very unique two-act one man play. Make the effort to see this one.
